For foodies, it's an exciting harbinger of Spring...the announcement, every year in late February or early March, of the newest Michelin-star restaurant ratings in the newest edition of the Guide Rouge for France. This year the news came early, in late January.
There are now five three-star restaurants in the PACA region (Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur) with this year's promotion of Baumaniere in Les Baux, which lost its third star in 1990 and just got it back. Bravo to Baumaniere chef Glenn Viel and his team! The other three stars in Provence are Argentine chef Mauro Colagreco, at Mirazur in Menton, Christophe Bacquié's restaurant at the Hôtel du Castellet in the Var, Gérald Passedat's Le Petit Nice in Marseille and La Vague d'Or at the Résidence de la Pinède in Saint Tropez, with chef Arnaud Donckele at the helm. And of course down in Monte-Carlo, there's superstar chef Alain Ducasse, who has carried three-stars at Le Louis XV in the Hotel de Paris since 1990.
Below you'll find a complete list of all the Michelin-starred restaurants in the PACA region for 2020, with their current number of stars and a link to their website where possible. Monaco (with seven starred restaurants) appears at the end. Bon Appetit!
