Peter Mayle's House is for Sale


Best-selling author Peter Mayle, who wrote A Year in Provence and 12 other books, is selling his 18th-century house on the outskirts of Lourmarin in the Luberon region of Provence. And as you can imagine, it's magnificent. Read all about it here, then see the listing and photos here.

    Oh, what a dream! Would love to have a peek just to get a feel for where all those lovely, quirky Provencal stories took place.. thanks for sharing!

    When he wrote A Year In Provence, his first house in Menerbes was very simple compared to this one.

    Thanks for posting this beautiful house Julie - I viewed the other Peter Mayle house outside Menerbes but this one is plus grand !!
    What a delightful area to live and the swimming pool is just gorgeous.

    The house in Lourmarin is gorgeous nothing like the simple house he renovated in Menerbes and chronicled in A Year in Provence. So is he leaving Provence again?

    Gorgeous house. Is he upping sticks from Provence again? Or maybe the present house is besieged by fans like the one in Ménerbes.

    Other wonderful properties for sale now in Provence include the legendary gardens and house of the great designer Nicole de Vésian, in Bonnieux. Check out Amazon if you don' t know this name for books on her.

    I just love his style of writing, and I hope he'll write a lot more books with the focus on life in Provence.
    I wonder if he ever picked up the game of petanque?
