With few exceptions, outdoor markets in Provence happen in the morning, ending around noon or 1 p.m. Some markets are year-round while others shut down in the winter. It's always best to check with the local tourist office before heading out. Three of the largest, most-popular markets are Isle sur la Sorgue (Sunday), St. Remy (Wednesday) and Arles (Saturday). Some towns (such as Aix and Antibes) have multiple market days; see the notes at the bottom of this list.

*AIX Aix has some form of market every day but the three main/best ones are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The first is a very large general market which spreads across Place des Precheurs, Place de la Madeleine, the Quartiers d'Encagnane and Jas de Bouffan. The second is a Flower Market on the Place Hotel de Ville. The third is a brocante on the Place Verdun near the Palais de Justice. Note, there's also a daily farm market in Aix, on the Place Richelme near the City Hall. To learn more about the markets of Aix, click here.
*Also, the covered Les Halles food market in Avignon is open daily except Monday. It has roughly 40 stalls and closes around 1 p.m.
*Vedene has an evening farmers' market, starting at 6 p.m., every day except Sunday.
*Velleron has a wonderful farmer's market, from 6 to 8 pm, every day in summer. In winter, days and hours vary.
*For the market schedule in Nice, click here.
*Market schedule in Antibes: Marché Provençal (covered market) is Sept-May: Tue-Sun mornings and every morning in summer (on the Cours Massena, in front of the Mairie). The artisanal Provençal covered market is Sun afternoons. The clothing market (Foire) is Thursday on the Rue Fontvieille, behind the post office. The Brocante is Thursday and Saturday all day on the Place Jacques Audiberti, between the Porte Marine and the Place Massena.
