Provence from the Slow Lane
Five different friends emailed today to make sure I saw the nice big piece in the Sunday NY Times...front page of the Travel Section...about the pleasures of a self-guided bike tour through Provence. It's a good read, particularly the bits where things go really wrong. Read it here.

There's a lesson for us, you get what you pay for, especially when traveling. Would love to cycle in France, but with the van nearby!
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for the heads up! This is something I may skip now when I visit Provence:)

love provence... simply nothing like it..i love your blog...
ReplyDeleteI will read the article soon, but I'd like to say, years back, I went on an amazing bike trip through Tuscany and the South of France. It was heaven, even though there were things like "7-mile uphills" and totally hilly all-day rides. But there was also a waterfall, and I'll never forget, the Gorge de Verdon. Find a group trip (yes, of course, with a van - what are you nuts?) and go!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea, a way to truly experience the sights, smells, and sounds of a wonderful place!
